Bungie Signs on with Activision.... for 10 Years

If you've been living under a rock these past few months Bungie, the guys that made Halo, have been trying to get away from Microsoft have gotten away from Microsoft. After signing a contract to work with Activision for ten years.

Under the terms of the agreement, the studio behind the heralded Halo series has partnered with the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 publisher for "an exclusive 10-year partnership to bring Bungie's next big action game universe to market." The deal will give Activision exclusive international rights to all future Bungie games based on an unnamed new property through 2020. It also mentioned older Bungie series such as Marathon and Myth. --Gamespot
What does this mean? While Microsoft still retains ownership of the Halo series, future Bungie games will be available on all platforms. Yes, PS3 and Wii gamers can rejoice knowing the Halo-makers are coming.

Bungie did make a smart move in that they will remain an independent studio and hold its ownership on its IP. Activision is simply going to be "Daddy Warbucks" and take care of publishing and financing.
I wonder what's going to happen to Xbox without its Master Chief.
